Lydia Awinbo Abugri, a 4th year Land Economy student at KNUST has passed away due to chronic disease.
On 6th December 2022, a letter was released by the University Health Services asking for support for her to get treatment. She was diagnosed with chronic kidney disease. The University Health Services managed her chronic kidney disease with dialysis for weeks before seeking support from the general public.
A kidney transplant was the ultimate solution; the amount needed for the transplant was GHS 400,000.00.
VOICE OF KNUST on phone with her sister yesterday "we had the monies for the surgery, and we were to meet the doctor this week for the surgery. She just complained of having breathing difficulties yesterday and was rushed to the hospital where she passed on. I thank everyone for love shown to my sister.'
The sister of the deceased is reported to have said that plans were far advanced to have Lydia undergo surgery with the hope that she fully recovers.
She however showed appreciation to all who donated to support her sister's life.
