KNUST Opens Applications for Top-Up Nursing and Midwifery Programmes

The School of Nursing and Midwifery, College of Health Sciences at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Kumasi, is now accepting applications for its Top-Up Programmes for the 2025 academic year. These programmes provide a great opportunity for qualified nurses and midwives to upgrade their qualifications and enhance their career prospects.

Available Programmes

KNUST offers Bachelor of Science (BSc.) Top-Up programmes in both Regular and Sandwich Sessions, covering a range of specializations:

Regular (Top-Up Sessions)

  • BSc. Emergency Nursing
  • BSc. Nursing
  • BSc. Midwifery

Sandwich (Top-Up Sessions)

  • BSc. Nursing
  • BSc. Midwifery
  • BSc. Public Health Nursing
Entry Requirements

To qualify for any of these programmes, applicants must meet the following criteria:

BSc. Emergency Nursing & BSc. Nursing

  • Must hold a Diploma in Nursing with a good pass
  • Must be registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Ghana (NMC)
  • Must have completed National Clinical Rotation
  • Required documents:
    • NMC Certificate
    • Diploma Certificate from an accredited institution
    • WASSCE/SSSCE Certificate/Result Slips and/or KNUST Access results (if any)
  • Must have credit passes in six (6) subjects, including English Language, Mathematics, and Integrated Science.

BSc. Midwifery

  • Must hold a Diploma in Midwifery with a good pass
  • Must be registered with NMC Ghana
  • Must have completed National Clinical Rotation
  • Required documents: Same as above
  • Must have credit passes in six (6) subjects, including English Language, Mathematics, and Integrated Science.

BSc. Public Health Nursing

  • Must hold a Diploma in Community Health Nursing/Public Health Nursing with a good pass
  • Must be registered with NMC Ghana
  • Must have completed National Clinical Rotation
  • Required documents: Same as above
  • Must have credit passes in six (6) subjects, including English Language, Mathematics, and Integrated Science.

How to Apply

  1. Purchase an e-Voucher for GH₵250.00 at designated Ghana Post Company Ltd offices.
  2. Use the Login ID and PIN from the e-Voucher to access the online admission portal.
  3. Fill out the online application form and upload all required documents, including:
    • Academic and professional certificates
    • WASSCE/SSSCE Certificate/Result slips
    • KNUST Access Results (if any)
  4. Print a copy of the submitted application for personal reference.
  5. Do NOT submit a hard copy to the university.

Application Deadline

The deadline for submission of applications is Tuesday, July 15, 2025.
