The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) is set to be buzzing with activity as the university council has greenlighted the return of Student Week celebrations for the 2024/2025 academic year. This announcement, received with excitement by the student body, follows a petition submitted by both the Students’ Representative Council (SRC) and the Graduate Students’ Association of Ghana (GRASAG).

The petition, which sought the reinstatement of Junior Common Room Council (JCRC) activities and Hall Week festivities, highlighted the importance of these events for student life, community building, and overall campus morale.
The council’s decision to approve a special committee to plan and organize the Student Week celebration signals a willingness to address student concerns and potentially lift the previous ban on these events. The committee, which will consist of representatives from both the SRC and the university administration, will work to ensure a well-structured and enjoyable Student Week experience for all students, while upholding university regulations and maintaining a conducive learning environment.
