In the wake of devastating floods in Ayeduase, the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has mobilized its resources to provide immediate relief and long-term solutions for affected students.

The Students’ Representative Council (SRC) and the Directorate of Students Affairs (DoSA) have worked tirelessly to provide support to students who lost their homes and belongings in the floods.
The SRC, under the leadership of President H.E. Yvonne Osei Adobea, reacted swiftly by deploying a team within 48 hours of the floods to assess the situation and identify the needs of affected students.
Based on the assessment, the SRC, in partnership with DoSA, has implemented a series of measures to assist students:
• Temporary Accommodation:
The SRC Hostel is offering temporary accommodation to displaced students, with the payment process for room allocations already underway.
• Essential Support:
The SRC is providing vital welfare support, including food items, to affected students.
• Preventative Measures:
Long-term plans are being developed to improve the drainage system in Ayeduase to prevent future flooding events.

Recognizing the importance of collaborative efforts, the SRC President highlighted the strengthened communication and joint inspections between the SRC and DoSA to improve hostel safety and address potential issues.
Expressing solidarity with affected students, the SRC President emphasized their commitment to supporting students both on and off campus. "We are committed to doing everything in our power to help students recover and ensure this doesn't happen again," she said.
