The Support One Needy Student One Laptop Project popularly known as the 'SONSOL Project' is a Vice-Chancellor initiative aimed at supporting underprivileged students by providing laptops to aid in their university education. This project commenced upon her assuming office as Vice-Chancellor of KNUST.

Eligibility Criteria
- Brilliant but needy students: First-year undergraduate and postgraduate (Masters) students only.
- Undergraduates: Must provide a WASSCE Certificate with a maximum aggregate of 15 or better.
- Postgraduates: Must provide a Certificate with a Second-Class Upper or better.
- Open to Ghanaian Students: Including those from IDL, Obuasi Campus, and all Colleges in the University.
Students already benefitting from scholarships from Mastercard Foundation, GNPC, Tullow, MTN Foundation, Vodafone, Ghana Government Scholarships, MP’s Common Fund, District Assembly Support, or any other Scholarship or Bursary above GHC 2,000.00 are NOT eligible.
Application Requirements
All prospective applicants must include the following documents in their applications:
1. Proof of Need: Maximum one page.
2. Admission Letter
3. Acceptance Letter
4. WASSCE Certificate or WASSCE Results
5. Awards and Certificates for involvement in extra-curricular activities (if any).
Important Notes
- For postgraduate students, only the first 50 applications will be considered due to the limited number of laptops available. Applications submitted after the first 50 will be respectfully declined.
- Postgraduate students must add a certified true copy of their 1st Degree certificate.
- All documents must be in a sealed envelope with the Applicant’s Name, Programme, Year, Reference Number, and phone number boldly written on it.
- Submission of documents should be done at the Student Support and Financial Services Office (Room 19) at the Directorate of Students Affairs, J Harper Building, Commercial Area.
- Any write-up should be typed in Times New Roman font, size 12, and 1.5 spaced.
- No applications will be accepted after the deadline.
- Only shortlisted applicants will be called for an interview.
