The University Teachers Association of Ghana (UTAG) has issued a stern warning, urging the government to disburse the 2022/23 Book and Research Allowance (BRA) by Saturday, October 21.
In a communiqué signed by the National President, Professor Mamudu A. Akudugu, and National Secretary, Dr Elliasu Mumuni, UTAG emphasized that failure to meet this deadline would lead to an industrial action.
The association clarified that the implementation of the National Research Fund should not replace the critical Book and Research Allowance, which remains a vital component of their conditions of service. The delay in disbursing this allowance for the already completed 2022/2023 Academic year is causing tension on campuses.
UTAG implores the government to expedite the payment of BRA to its members by October 21 to avert any disruption of industrial harmony.
