Renowned Nollywood actor John Okafor, popularly known as Mr. Ibu, has passed away at the age of 62. The news of his demise was reported by Vanguardngr.com, stating that the veteran actor breathed his last at Evercare Hospital.
Social media has become a platform for tributes, with numerous users and celebrities sharing condolences and fond memories of the beloved comic actor.
Mr. Ibu had been grappling with health challenges since October 2013, a period marked by a leg amputation and several surgeries. The final blow came in the form of cardiac arrest about a week ago, leading to his rushed admission to a Lagos-based hospital.

Mr. Ibu entered the Nigerian movie industry in 1998, initially struggling to secure significant roles. However, his breakthrough came in 2004 with the blockbuster comic movie, "Mr. Ibu," where he played the father of a troublesome son portrayed by Osita Iheme. The film achieved nationwide acclaim, earning him the Africa Movie Academy Award for Best Comic Actor in Nigeria in 2005.
