RENEWABLE ENERGY ENGINEERING STUDENTS OF UENR ATTACKED DURING FIELD TRIP

The journey back from an educational field trip to Bui Dam turned into a harrowing ordeal for students of Renewable Energy Engineering at University of Energy and Natural Resources. What started as a day of learning and exploration quickly took a terrifying turn when the students were ambushed by armed robbers on their way back home. In a shocking and tragic incident at Badu-Sereso,Wenchi, the students were robbed at gunpoint, leaving them traumatized and shaken to their core.

The field trip to Bui Dam was meant to be an enlightening experience for students of Renewable Energy Engineering, offering them insights into the practical aspects of their field of study. Level 400 and Level 300 students eagerly embarked on the journey, looking forward to gaining valuable knowledge and hands-on experience.

However, what should have been a memorable learning experience quickly turned into a nightmare when the students encountered armed robbers on their way back from the field trip. In an unexpected and terrifying turn of events at Badu-Sereso,Wenchi, the students were confronted by the assailants who mercilessly robbed them of their belongings, including phones, laptops, money, and personal items. Tragically, one student sustained a gunshot wound during the ordeal and has been pronounced dead after several hours of treatment at the hospital.

The brazen attack has left the students traumatized and reeling from the shock of the experience. Many are struggling to come to terms with the senseless violence they encountered, while others are grappling with fear and anxiety about their safety. The incident has cast a dark shadow over what should have been a memorable and educational field trip, leaving a lasting impact on the students and the entire university community.

Due to this, there have been calls for increased security measures to ensure the safety of students and faculty members during field trips and travel. The university administration, as well as local authorities, have been urged to take swift and decisive action to address security concerns and prevent such incidents from happening in the future.
