Six major infrastructure projects have been officially inaugurated at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology as part of the climax of the 59th Congregation, marking one of the most significant waves of development in the University’s recent history.

Her Excellency Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, Vice President of the Republic of Ghana, joined His Royal Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Asantehene and Chancellor of the University, to commission the new facilities designed to strengthen academic delivery, expand research capacity and enhance the overall student experience.
Among the key projects is the newly established KNUST Souvenir Shop, a modern merchandising centre created to promote the University’s corporate identity and provide convenient access to high-quality branded items for students, staff, alumni and visitors.

The delegation also inaugurated the four-storey Multipurpose Laboratory Building, a major investment aimed at easing pressure on existing labs and providing state-of-the-art spaces for practical teaching and multidisciplinary scientific research.

Another major facility commissioned is the KNUST Bottling Factory, equipped with advanced processing and packaging technology to support the University’s beverage and bottled water production. The factory is expected to enrich industrial training, product development and entrepreneurial initiatives across science and engineering programmes.

In a separate ceremony, the Asantehene, the Chairman of the University Council and the Vice Chancellor opened the Institute of Rural Development and Innovation Studies (IRDIS), the Agri-Impact Greenhouses Project and the KNUST Children’s Park.

These projects collectively expand research opportunities, promote agricultural innovation and offer a safe, inclusive recreational environment for children within the campus community. Officials noted that the newly commissioned projects reflect the strong leadership and vision of the Chancellor, whose commitment continues to shape the University’s national importance and global aspirations.
