The National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ) has concluded, marking the end of a riveting competition. The grand finale featured a fierce battle among three formidable schools: seven-time champions Presbyterian Boys' Secondary School (Presec), Achimota School, the only mixed school to win the trophy twice, and Opoku Ware School, also a two-time champion.
In the semifinals, Presec faced tough competition from Keta SHTS and Mfantsipim School but emerged victorious.
Opoku Ware School locked horns with arch-rivals Prempeh College, Pope Johns SHS, and Minor Seminary, narrowly securing their spot in the final. The contest ended amidst a protest by Prempeh College over a riddle they answered.
Achimota School had a tough contest against Wesley Girls' School and St. Louis SHS. These two girls' school were in top form but Achimota School was good enough to hold them back.
Each of these schools came into the competition with their respective mantras, reflecting the number of times they aimed to win the NSMQ trophy.
Presec, with seven championship titles in 1995, 2003, 2006, 2008, 2009, 2020, and 2022, carried two mantras:

They have a gap of three trophies from Prempeh College who has five trophies. Prempeh College believes they are the only school to challenge the boys from Legon. However, they could not have a chance to contend with them as Opoku Ware School beat them in the semifinals.
Opoku Ware School continues with their trophy drought making it twenty-two years while Achimota School has gone twenty years without a trophy.
