In a commendable effort to promote environmental awareness and sustainability, the Environmental Science Students Association (ENSSA) of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) recently conducted a sensitization and donation drive at the Kotei-Deduako Primary and Junior High School (JHS). This initiative aimed to educate and empower the local community on effective waste management practices while providing essential tools to support their efforts.

The ENSSA team emphasized the significance of separating recyclable materials, such as rubbers, from organic waste, thereby minimizing environmental pollution and promoting recycling initiatives. Additionally, the team introduced innovative eco-friendly tools designed to facilitate waste collection without the need for handpicking, thus promoting hygiene and efficiency.
One of the highlights of the outreach was the donation of essential materials to support the community's waste management efforts. The ENSSA team generously provided four larger dustbins and four smaller dustbins, enhancing the infrastructure for waste collection and disposal in the area. Moreover, the donation of four standing brooms and four smaller brooms will facilitate daily maintenance activities, ensuring cleanliness and tidiness within the school premises and surrounding areas.

However, what truly set this initiative apart was the provision of eight eco-friendly instruments for picking rubbish from the ground. These innovative tools not only simplify the process of waste collection but also promote sustainability by reducing the need for manual labor and minimizing direct contact with waste materials. This forward-thinking approach reflects the ENSSA's commitment to leveraging technology and innovation for environmental conservation.
