UNIVERSITY OF GHANA'S $16M RENOVATED DIASPORA HALLS FLOODED

The government awarded a controversial 16-million-dollar contract to refurbish the Diaspora Halls for the All-African Games.
As part of the package, general repair works and installations took place to give the facilities a facelift.

The University of Ghana Enterprises Limited (UGEL) management declined any official comment on the issues.
But, interestingly, they stated that they do not have any idea about how much was spent on specific works in the hall out of the $16 million allocated for the refurbishment.
The renovation, intended to transform the halls into a "Games Village" for the African Games, has been deemed a failure as rooms and corridors are now filled with stagnant water, creating an unhealthy and uncomfortable living environment for students.

Despite a costly $16 million renovation, the University of Ghana's Enterprise Limited (UGEL) halls have been inundated with floodwater following heavy rainfall, exposing significant structural flaws and rendering parts of the halls uninhabitable.

Students are demanding immediate action from the university administration to address the issue. They fear prolonged exposure to water damage could lead to further deterioration of the halls and negatively impact their health and academic performance.

The university administration has yet to comment on the situation, leaving students in limbo.
