MASTERCARD FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAMME AT THE UNIVERSITY OF CAMBRIDGE

The Mastercard Foundation Scholars Programme at the University of Cambridge is thrilled to announce that applications for the 2024/2025 academic year are now open.

ABOUT THE MASTERCARD FOUNDATION SCHOLARS PROGRAMME

Established in 2022 through a collaboration between the University and the Mastercard Foundation, this program aims to offer fully funded opportunities to talented students from economically marginalized African communities. Its goal is to help them complete their Master's training, foster transformative leadership, and make contributions to climate resilience and sustainability in Africa and globally.


The Programme provides scholarships across a wide range of academic disciplines, encompassing Social Sciences, Arts, and Humanities, as well as scientific and technical fields such as engineering and biochemistry. Prospective Mastercard Foundation scholars can apply to most full-time one-year postgraduate courses at the University, except specific business courses, including the Master of Business Administration (MBA), Master of Corporate Law (MCL), and Master of Finance (MFin).

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:

To be eligible for the scholarship, candidates must:

<>  Be citizens of an African country.

<> Be ordinarily resident in an African country, unless they can demonstrate temporary absence for study/work to return or unless they have been displaced.

<> Be applying for a Master's course of up to one year in length at the University of Cambridge.

The program covers full tuition costs, offers a monthly maintenance allowance, covers visa and travel expenses, and provides an allowance for a laptop. Additionally, scholars will participate in a cohort-wide induction program, which involves early arrival in Cambridge before the start of the course. They will also have access to mentorship and support during their time at Cambridge and become part of the program's alumni network.



APPLICATION PROCESS

To be eligible for a scholarship offer, students are first required to secure admission from the relevant department. As part of the application process, prospective scholars will be required to provide a supplementary statement that indicates their commitment to contributing to climate-resilient and sustainable futures for Africa.

DEADLINE 

The deadline for submitting funding applications is the 5th of December 2023 for courses with a 5th of December deadline and the 5th of January 2024 for courses with a 5th of January deadline. 

When making an application, pay close attention to the funding deadline.
