WAEC RELEASES PROVISIONAL RESULTS FOR 2023 WASSCE CANDIDATES

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has officially released the provisional results for candidates who sat for the WASSCE for School Candidates, 2023 (Ghana Only Version). A total of 448,674 candidates, comprising 212,453 males and 236,221 females from 975 schools, entered the examination, marking a 5.8% increase from the 2022 entry figures.

Accessing Results and Caution Against Fraudsters

The results have been hosted online, and heads of schools will receive login details to access their candidates' results. Candidates can also access their results on the WAEC website. WAEC emphasizes the security and authenticity of its results, cautioning candidates against fraudulent schemes promising result upgrades. The WAEC QR code is available for result verification.

Examination Irregularities and Committee Decisions

The Ghana Examinations Committee, in its 35th meeting on December 13, 2023, addressed irregularities reported during the examination. Decisions include:


1. Cancellation of Subject Results for 3,647 candidates for bringing foreign materials into exam halls.

2. Cancellation of Entire Results for 839 candidates caught with mobile phones in exam halls.

3. Withholding of Subject Results for 4,280 candidates and Entire Results for 1,005 due to various suspected offenses.


Investigations are ongoing for cases of collusion and the use of artificially intelligent-generated answers from candidates in 235 schools. The release or cancellation of withheld results depends on investigation outcomes.


Candidates are advised to stay informed through the WAEC website and exercise caution against fraudsters.
