BECE 2023: RESULTS RELEASED AND EXAMINATION MALPRACTICE SANCTIONS

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has released the provisional results for the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) for School and Private Candidates, 2023. A total of 600,900 candidates participated in the school examination, with 1,839 candidates in the Private Candidates category.

Statistics:

- School candidates: 600,900 (300,404 males, 300,496 females)

- Private Candidates: 1,839 (942 males, 897 females)

- 2,137 examination centers across the country

- 3,366 candidates were absent from the school examination

- 61 candidates were absent in the Private Candidates examination

Examination Malpractices:

- Cancellation of Subject Results for 312 school candidates and 3 private candidates for bringing foreign materials into the examination hall or colluding.

- Cancellation of Entire Results for 41 school candidates and 1 private candidate for possession of mobile phones in the examination hall.
