In contrast to some institutions that bill per semester, KNUST Academic fees are an annual commitment. This comprehensive payment grants students access to a myriad of benefits, spanning exam participation to result accessibility.

For those unfamiliar with the fee structure outlined in the PDFs, there's a risk of overpayment or perceiving the fees as unaffordable. Thankfully, the breakdown is straightforward, providing clarity on the components of the fees.

There are two main categories of fees: academic fees and residential fees (exclusive to first-year students). Continuing students are only required to settle the academic fees.

Academic Fees Breakdown

Academic fees cover everything concerning your studies or academic purposes including examinations, field trips, healthcare, and others.  It is divided into A, B1, and B2.

A:

- Payment for facilities used for academic purposes.

B1:

- Payment for specific items such as SRC dues, Medical Examination, NUGS dues, SRC Welfare Fund, Student ID Card, and more.

B2:

- Payment primarily for practical activities, catering to programs necessitating field trips and practicals (e.g., Engineering students covering protective clothing).

Residential Fees:

Residential fees cover all aspects of on-campus accommodation, exclusively applicable to first-year students. This encompasses hall dues, utilities, residential facility user fees, and more.

It's important to note that Academic and Residential Fees are separate, with Academic Fees taking precedence.

For a practical example, consider Peter, a Computer Science student from the College of Science. His Academic fees breakdown is as follows:

- A: GH₵ 469.85

- B1: GH₵ 1,316.14

- B2: GH₵ 720.75

- Residential Fees: GH₵ 2,167.80

The total of Peter's Academic fees is A+B1+B2 = GH₵ 2,506.74. Refer to the Grand Total on the table corresponding to your program to determine the total fees payable.

Payments can be made at various banks, including GCB, Ecobank, Republic Bank, UBA Bank, CAL Bank, CBG, ABSA Bank, Stanbic Bank, Standard Chartered, and Ghana Post. Ensure you request receipts for all transactions, and first-year students will need the Residential Fee slip upon hall selection.
